Healthy Hair 2014

It's 2014 and Healthy Hair is one of my goals! There are hair challenges all over the web that encourage you to interact with them sharing your pictures, stories and questions .  I've decided to challenge myself, not with a formal group challenge but to personally challenge myself to give my tresses some extra TLC!

What I will be doing:

I did a lot of research on Hairfinity vitamins and decided to give them a try.  They are 100% drug free with no known side effects so I will be taking 2 pills (the recommended amount) daily, deep conditioning my hair every week with one of my favorites from Shea Moisture, Nothing But & Edens Bodywork (not pictured- must restock). I won't be protective styling but I will  try to only style my hair once per week and sleeping on my Pillow Bonnet at night. I've increased my water intake to a minimum of 80 ounces per day and I will be using unrefined  virgin coconut oil in my hair weekly.  I purchased to Laila Ali soft bonnet dryer on Amazon and I will alternate from steaming my deep conditioners to using the bonnet.

Sales:

Shea Moisture is currently BOGO 50% at Walgreens & many Targets.  Also this Saturday they are having a special event and you can save an additional $1 (check your local Walgreens)

Hairfinity vitamins is hosting a six month challenge on their Facebook page and you can save 10% off on a single bottle purchase or 15% a 6 month supply... They also have prizes up for grab by participating in the challenge!

Embracing a New Chapter: Adventures of a New Grandmother at 50!

As the winds of change blow through my life, I find myself standing at the threshold of a thrilling new chapter: grandmotherhood! Yes, you read that right—I recently celebrated my 50th birthday, and to add an extra sprinkle of joy, my youngest son and his partner are expecting their first child. Cue the confetti and baby giggles! It's been over two decades since I last cradled a newborn in my arms, and the prospect of becoming a grandmother fills me with an indescribable mix of excitement, nostalgia, and a touch of apprehension. While I'm overjoyed at the prospect of cuddling a little bundle of joy again, there's no denying that navigating this new role comes with its own set of challenges and adventures. Balancing the excitement of impending grandmotherhood with the reality of supporting my adult children through this life-changing journey is a delicate dance. From offering sage advice and sharing in their joy to resisting the urge to overwhelm them with too much "h...

Embracing Grace: A Journey to Natural Gray Hair

As the wind blows, so too does the passage of time, marking the transitions in our lives. One such transition that many individuals face is the emergence of gray hair. It's a journey that goes beyond just the physical changes; it's a journey of self-acceptance, confidence, and embracing the natural beauty that comes with age. For me, this journey began when I turned 50 in December 2023. It was a milestone birthday, and I decided it was time to bid farewell to the routine of hair dyeing and embrace the authenticity of my graying locks. Little did I know, this decision would spark a profound transformation, not just in my appearance, but in my outlook on aging. However, my decision to let my gray hair shine wasn't met with unanimous applause. I encountered a barrage of negative feedback, with many projecting their own insecurities onto me, expressing concerns about looking older. Yet, amidst the sea of doubt, one unwavering beacon of support stood by my side – my husband. H...

We share a Curl story- Jessicurl Review

Frofashionweek was an awesome event that gave me an opportunity to meet someone I didn't expect to impress me. It was the owner and creator of Jessicurl , Jessica McGuinty. I had seen advertisements in the past via email (curlmart) for Jessicurls but I dismissed it as not a product for a "kinky" curly lady like myself. I had no desire to try the product until I meet her.  Jessica was unveiling the new packaging for the product line at the event and she shared her experience of a love/hate relationship with her curls that I could relate to.  This wasn't a speech from a CEO to sell products it was a conversation with another sister that shared our story.   I was excited to try the products but I was still sceptical of a white lady with curls producing a product that could help this black lady with curls. During the event I received a package of samples that I am using for this review. I washed, conditioned, deep conditioned and styled my hair ...
