Huntsville's Restaurant Week

Restaurant week is in full swing! The Huntsville-Madison County Visitors Bureau is doing their part spreading the word  on their facebook page where you can find participating area restaurant to try and featuring some of the many amazing lunch & dinner specials being offered.  Today I had the pleasure of attending a free to the public event...It was a cooking demonstration by two spectacular chefs...

Chef Robert Charles of The Scene Restaurant at Monaco Pictures in Bridgestreet  was up first...Chef Charles delighted the crowd with his Maple Glazed Pork Loin sandwich...It was delicious and savory....with Chef Charles sharing with us that he could have chosen many different cheeses' for this sandwich but "There is nothing finer than some good ole American Cheese"...Chef Charles is originally from Denver but now calls Huntsville home with his wife (a native of Huntsville) and their young child...

To end our afternoon on a sweet note Chef Merle Phillips of The Eaves Restaurant was there to share her decadent Banana Foster...She was proud to say this rich desert used butter.."Yes I said butter" (salted butter) not overly ripe bananas, cinnamon, brown sugar, cream and a combination of liquors that will have you intoxicated with the flavors...This dish makes a fabulous presentation and my mother along with the other visitors seem to enjoy ever drop...Chef Phillips is a native of New Jersey but has some Southern blood via her grandmother's Georgia roots..

I can't wait to try some of the other dishes these Chefs offer at their restaurants and this week is a great time to give them a try!

Support Huntsville & Madison County and enjoy Restaurant Week...For more info check them out at www.huntsville.org/restaurantweek Runs August 16-25

***I also had a chance to see some of the great people of Huntsville like..fellow Rocket City Blogger and writer at The Dining Dragon Amanda, Kim Essex of WAFF 48 & Sole Sisters and Food Network Food Court Wars Huntsville Winner..Owner of Kettle n' Spouts***

Embracing a New Chapter: Adventures of a New Grandmother at 50!

As the winds of change blow through my life, I find myself standing at the threshold of a thrilling new chapter: grandmotherhood! Yes, you read that right—I recently celebrated my 50th birthday, and to add an extra sprinkle of joy, my youngest son and his partner are expecting their first child. Cue the confetti and baby giggles! It's been over two decades since I last cradled a newborn in my arms, and the prospect of becoming a grandmother fills me with an indescribable mix of excitement, nostalgia, and a touch of apprehension. While I'm overjoyed at the prospect of cuddling a little bundle of joy again, there's no denying that navigating this new role comes with its own set of challenges and adventures. Balancing the excitement of impending grandmotherhood with the reality of supporting my adult children through this life-changing journey is a delicate dance. From offering sage advice and sharing in their joy to resisting the urge to overwhelm them with too much "h...

Embracing Grace: A Journey to Natural Gray Hair

As the wind blows, so too does the passage of time, marking the transitions in our lives. One such transition that many individuals face is the emergence of gray hair. It's a journey that goes beyond just the physical changes; it's a journey of self-acceptance, confidence, and embracing the natural beauty that comes with age. For me, this journey began when I turned 50 in December 2023. It was a milestone birthday, and I decided it was time to bid farewell to the routine of hair dyeing and embrace the authenticity of my graying locks. Little did I know, this decision would spark a profound transformation, not just in my appearance, but in my outlook on aging. However, my decision to let my gray hair shine wasn't met with unanimous applause. I encountered a barrage of negative feedback, with many projecting their own insecurities onto me, expressing concerns about looking older. Yet, amidst the sea of doubt, one unwavering beacon of support stood by my side – my husband. H...
